What I do

I am a digital producer specialising in science, history and arts projects that inspire audiences to find out more about their world. Recently I've worked on citizen science experiments, MOOCs, and collaborations with universities, charities, galleries, libraries and museums.

I am also a part-time academic, and have recently completed a PhD in cognitive stylistics. My current research interests include memories of ficional narratives and narratives of climate change. You can read my summary of my PhD research - What do we remember when we remember a novel? - here.

I am keen to talk to anyone about projects both within and beyond academia that address the climate emergency.

UPDATE, Spring 2025: Do you have ten minutes to help me with my research? If so, you can take part in this survey of responses to literature and find out more about what I'm investigating.

Recently I've been working with the University of Wolverhampton, where we've just been funded by Arts Council England to run a pilot creative writing project with people recovering from strokes and head injuries. We've also been collaborating with the Prison Libraries Group to design a reading group project for prisoners.
